A Knight’s banquet at Balthasar Castle

A Knight’s banquet at Balthasar Castle

As the song by the Munich comedian Karl Valentin goes, “Ja so warns, ja so warns, die alten Rittersleut”: a special band of men that cherished great food, friendship and which upheld honour! In the historic walls of Balthasar Castle which was built in the 15th century, dishes fit for a prince lure in visitors to the knightly banquet. This is authentic feasting. Every guest receives nightly attire with their welcoming drink, before a five-course menu is served leaving nothing to be desired. Table wine and mineral water are served with the food, as much as is required to quench your thirst. A herald, fire eaters, jesters and dancers ensure that there is entertainment at the wooden tables. And after the festivities at Balthasar, a noble guest receives the celebrated knightly accolade to round off the evening.
